Army “A” Cutting Board

I make a lot of cutting boards throughout the year and my go-to style is a 1.5″ endgrain: it’s easy on the knives and looks great. In this latest project, I added a bit of automation to create in inlay of my college logo in the upper left corner of the board. Using a 1/8″ upcut bit, I routed a 1/4″ deep fill into the surface of the board. ┬áThen, using a thin piece of walnut, I created the outline of the logo. ┬áThere was minimal sanding and the fit was perfect.

After 10 minutes of flattening with the belt sander, the board was ready for the mineral oil treatment.
